Powder Cats 2020-21 Winter Operations Plan in response to Covid 19

COVID-19 RESPONSE

First and Foremost, we want all of our guests to know how excited we are to share with you the magic of backcountry skiing in the Uinta Mountains.

Our number one priority has always been the health and safety of our guests and staff. During this unprecedented time, we feel very grateful that we can continue creating unforgettable memories skiing in the Uinta backcountry.  In order to operate this season and continue to keep your health and safety along with our staffs as our number one priority , we have implemented a rigorous COVID-19 operations plan that follows CDC and Summit County health guidelines and protocols.  Below we will outline our guidelines for this season in detail.  Please know that this is an ever evolving situation. With that said, our policies will be subject to change as the pandemic evolves and regulations develop.  We will do our best to keep our COVID-19 policies updated on our website.  Feel free to always reach out and ask questions, we are here to help you feel confident in your decision to join us this season.

Private Cat Booking

Private Cats mean that you will be skiing and riding only with your friends and family along with your two guides.  The maximum amount of people you can book with a private cat is 10 ppl.   Cats must be booked in full in order to reserve your trip.

Limiting Number of Tours in a Day

We will be running two cats a day with staggering arrival times to our base cabin.  This way your party will never be in the base cabin with another party.  We will contact each group before their tour with their arrival time.

Increased Ventilation in our our Snowcats

We have reconfigured the windows and added power vents in our cats for maximum ventilation.

Required COVID-19 Questionnaire and Temperature Checks for all Guests Before Entering our Base Cabin

At your designated arrival time, we will have a Powder Cat staff member outside the cabin to check you in.  This will include a few quick questions about any symptoms and a temperature check.  You can then enter our cabin with a mask on.

Daily Sanitation

This includes a thorough sanitizing of the interior cabin of the snowcats after each tour.,  Along with sanitizing protocols for all high touch areas in our base cabin, bathrooms etc.

Mask Requirement

We will require  guests and guides to wear a face mask when you are in the base cabin and snowcat cab along with anytime physical distancing is not possible.   PLEASE NOTE: As per  Summit County Public Health Order, single-layer face coverings that can be seen through (such as buffs) and face coverings with two-way valves are not approved. We will have extra masks on hand if you do not bring the appropriate mask.  This again will be mandatory with no exceptions.

Food Service

Our food service will look a little different this season.  We will not have our customary continental buffet breakfast in the mornings or our apres spread in the afternoon.  We will be providing lunch which will be individual sack lunches that include water. Lunch will be eaten outside.

Daily Staff Symptom and Temperature Checks

Staff will be required to pass a daily test for symptom monitoring and temperature checks.

 Mask Requirements

All employees will be required to wear a face mask when in our base cabin and snowcat cabin along with anytime physical distancing is not possible

Limited Time with Guests in the Snowcat

Guides will be limiting their time in the Snowcat cabin with guests.  IE: Riding in the front cabin with snowcat driver along with using our snowmobiles to limit their exposure time to guests in the Snowcat Cabin.

Employee Testing Throughout the Season

We will be administering random tests throughout the season to monitor for asymptomatic cases.
